While food additives are essential components of recipes in food processing, their increasing use over the last decades has amplified safety concerns from consumers and policymakers, leading to more stringent regulations world-wide. Selerant standard Global Food Additives Database contains more than 40.000 records covering North America, Europe, Greater China and Codex Standards. It’s a comprehensive set of regulated substances together with their restrictions for use per product category and per market. Regulatory data reflect the content of Food Additives legislations in a transparent way, allowing Regulatory managers to easily consult and audit the system by legislative references and substance search tool.

Different from Food Additives that are chemicals intentionally added to food for a particular purpose, food contaminants are undesirable substances having as origin environmental contamination, production processes, packaging or even transport and handling. Selerant standard Global Food Contaminants Database is built to gather in a unique database, chemicals maximum residue limits as per legislations on pesticides, veterinary drugs and food impurities (Heavy Metals, 3-MCPD, nitrates, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, natural toxins…), food contact materials. The database is aimed at facilitating the management of safe products and ingredients as well as improving vendors collaboration and qualification.
